Implementation of a Cashless Ticketing Settlements System for Passenger Transport

Client

The client is a leader in Poland in implementing, managing, and developing passenger transport fee collection systems. Their activities focus on the urban transport services market.

Project goal

The primary goal of the project was to create a comprehensive, open-loop, cashless, decentralized, and easily configurable payment solution. This system allows a ticketing operator to sell public transport tickets in various cities using payment cards.

Product

The Cashless Ticketing System (CTS) is a Centreo’s solution designed to issue, verify, and settle passenger transport tickets. The goal of CTS is to enable the quick purchase of tickets while verifying the availability of funds required for the trip.

CTS leverages contactless cards and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, allowing passengers to pay for public transport directly in vehicles without the need to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets are encoded on the passenger’s payment card, and transactions are processed in the background using deferred payment authorization, debt recovery mechanisms, and maintaining a blocked cards list.

Implementation
